Google Sheets Function: TODAY

The TODAY function returns the current date (automatically updated).

This function can also be used to calculate the difference between a second date and today's date.

Usage:

=TODAY()

Example of use

To display today's date, simply enter in a cell:

=TODAY()

Number of days until a date

To calculate the number of days between the date in cell B1 and today's date, enter:

=B1-TODAY()

Since the TODAY function is used here (instead of a fixed date), the number of days remaining until Christmas will be automatically recalculated each day.
